This is a story I lived in travelling times. After exchanging a few words and accompanying an enlightened member of the left-wing, I was received in a beautiful apartment with several rooms in one of the most expensive areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro. There, after smoking a joint, listening to music and talking about politics, I was very well received, but I could not stay in the place. I was traveling, without a place to stay the night, and I did not want to pass the street. Seeing that I was a traveler and had nowhere else to go, my host soon said he did not feel comfortable in allowing me to stay for a single night. A fucking single night. He offered me coffee, water, and chocolate. More coffee. It allowed me to take a shower. It was really helpful. I realized his great collection of books and luxury. There was food in the refrigerator. He offered me dinner. But a place to sleep was too much. Even though there is a balcony. The dog could not stand my presence. He had bitten me in the face. No one is obliged to receive someone, but I was not exactly a stranger. And solidarity is not the first word of the leftist's vocabulary? Maybe he was not a socialist. He was another capitalist. C'est une histoire que j'ai vécue à l'époque du voyageur. Après avoir échangé quelques mots et accompagné un membre informé de la gauche, j'ai été reçu dans un bel appartement avec plusieurs chambres dans l'une des zones les plus chères de la ville de Rio de Janeiro. Là, après avoir fumé un marijuana, écouté de la musique et parlé de politique, j'ai été très bien reçu, mais je ne pouvais pas rester à la place. Je voyageais, sans endroit pour rester la nuit, et je ne voulait pas passer la rue. Voyant que j'étais un voyageur et que je n'avais nulle part où aller, mon hôte a bientôt déclaré qu'il ne se sentait pas à l'aise de me permettre de rester une seule nuit. Il m'a offert du café, de l'eau et du chocolat. Plus de café. Cela m'a permis de prendre une douche. C'était vraiment utile. J'ai réalisé sa grande collection de livres et de luxe. Demander un lieu pour passer une nuit était beaucoup à demander. Je soupçonne que c'était dû à la tension. Il ne me considérait pas comme un égal, mais comme un mineur dans sa hiérarchie du capital. J'ai essayé de partir parce que je ne pouvais pas rester, après avoir éprouvé un peu de conscience des choses que je pouvais avoir et que je n'avais pas à ce moment-là. C'était vraiment utile. Ensuite, j'ai passé la nuit dans un bar local. En compagnie de femmes d'autres pays. La solidarité est quelque chose que j'ai avec d'autres travailleurs. Même ceux sans conscience de classe. Les plus pauvres m'ont même donné de l'argent. Les plus riches parlent de la pauvreté à Ipanema, assis dans des chambres climatisées avec télévision et des chambres élégamment décorées. Il y avait même un canapé. Mais le chien n'était pas content. L'hôte n'était pas à l'aise. Portrait du Brésil.

Após trocar algumas palavras e acompanhar pela internet um membro da esquerda esclarecida fui recebido em um belo apartamento, com vários quartos, em uma das regiões mais caras da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Lá, após fumar um baseado, ouvir música e conversar sobre política, fui muito bem recebido, mas não pude permanecer no local. Estava viajando, sem um lugar para passar a noite, e não queria passar na rua. Vendo que eu era um viajante e não tinha outro lugar para ir, o meu anfitrião disse logo não se sentir confortável em permitir minha estadia por uma única noite. Me ofereceu café, água e chocolate. Mais café. Me permitiu tomar um banho. Foi sim de grande ajuda. Percebi sua grande coleção de livros e luxo. Uma foto de Che Guevara e Fidel Castro em meio a porcelanas de outros países. Grande gosto musical. Apesar do anfitrião não beber, havia uma garrafa de bebida muito cara sobre a mesa. Havia comida na geladeira. Me ofereceu um jantar. Mas um lugar para dormir era demais. Mesmo havendo uma sacada. O cachorro não suportaria minha presença. Havia me mordido no rosto. Ninguém é obrigado a receber alguém, mas eu não era exatamente um desconhecido. E solidariedade não é a primeira palavra do vocabulário da esquerda? Talvez ele não fosse um socialista. Era outro capitalista. Passou a me ofender. De forma educada. Ficou claro que não era bem vindo. Pedir um teto para passar uma madrugada era pedir muito. Desconfio que foi devido a tensão. Não me considerou um igual, mas alguém menor na sua hierarquia do capital. Tratei de ir embora, porque não poderia ficar, após experimentar um pouco a consciência das coisas que poderia ter e não tinha naquele momento. Me foi sim de grande ajuda. Depois suportei a noite em um bar local. Em companhia de mulheres de outros países. Solidariedade é algo que tenho ao lado de outros trabalhadores. Mesmo aqueles sem consciencia de classe. Os mais pobres já me deram até dinheiro. Os mais ricos discutem a pobreza em Ipanema, sentados em salas climatizadas, com televisão e salas decoradas de forma elegante. Havia até mesmo um sofá. Did Hitler ever say "We most close union offices, confiscate their money…"? (And does it matter?)

"We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers salaries and take away their right to strike" (attributed to Adolf Hitler). 

The above quote gets a lot of traction on the Internet, and I think it's another one of those memes that too few people debunk or even bother to investigate. I've tried, and despite thousands of Internet posts to the contrary, I have never found any real proof that Hitler ever said these particular words. But that doesn't mean they aren't substantially suggestive of what his positions on trade unions were. They are. American conservative propagandists (such as the famously stupid Breitbartian fame whore, Brooks Bayne) frequently try to claim that Hitler, whom in their ignorance they mislabel a "socialist," couldn't possibly have been anti-union, because, to paraphrase their apocryphal idiocy, "everyone knows socialists are a worker's party." In fact, even really lazy students of history know that the Nazis used the socialist label to sucker workers into thinking they cared about their interests, solely for purposes of using their community organizing outreach apparatus, and intimidate anyone on their membership rosters. The Nazis—and especially their Führer—detested Marxists in general and Communists in particular. And since their power ultimately derived from the rich, slave-labor-loving industrialists (in Germany and the United States), unions were the absolutely last people on their Christmas card list. Hitler suppressed trade unions (along with Communists and Social Democrats) in early 1933. It was a key part of their rise to power. They raided and destroyed offices, liberated printing presses and other hardware and beat or imprisoned members and especially leaders. The SS and their brownshirt stooges rampaged through every trade union office of the Social Democrats, took control of their newspapers and other publications, and seized almost all of their financial assets. Except for a few placeholder puppets, most real union officials were either killed or removed to the concentration camps. The net effect was to crush any power that the trade unions had so the Nazi's could use the shell of what remained for their own propaganda purposes. But don't take my word for it. Take it from one of the word's foremost historians and a true expert on the Third Reich, who is the source behind my words above: The Coming of the Third Reich by Richard J. Evans

I believe you are correct, except for one thing: the reduction of salaries. Hitler was very wary of potential unrest among the working class. He firmly believed in the "dagger-in-the-back" myth which blamed Germany's defeat in the First World War on the communists fomenting the working class into revolution and he was determined to avoid anything similar from happening again. To that end he destroyed the communists and the socialists and dismantled the unions, but he also made sure that the working classes' material conditions were such that no grounds for unrest would arise. Hitler avoided putting the German economy on a war footing during the first half of WWII and did not introduce wholesale distribution of primary necessities until 1943 or 1944. After the German victory over France in 1940 he had a substantial part of the army discharged also to avoid discontent amongst the people and to allow them to go back to work to increase productivity and thereby the living standards of the people. All this to make sure people's material comforts were seen to as much as possible, not out of concern for the people, but in order to keep them quiet...

Ocupação em Brasília e Fora Temer / Occupy Brasilia (Brazil's political capital center) and Coupist Temer out!

Political consciousness and autonomy of thought are directly linked. Many civil society groups do not yet understand what is the withdrawal of their rights and other issues, but there is a critique of the models of institutions that have formed in the past and that today no longer represent the model of the present. Model that is imposed by the capital. The State is one of those historical institutions that, although they remain immersed in the past, continue to be updated according to the interests of the same old elite, with fresh faces. These moments of widespread popular discontent, of strikes from different categories, only make the lie that is the dispute over power even more apparent as a lie. What is sold tells us that we are living a dispute between the right-wing extremists and the left-wing groups, and that this must be done through a just representative democracy, but it is not said that whoever represents us there can only achieve some representation after be part of the same processes and buy the same accesses. I speak, for example, of buying a physical or virtual pamphlets and I do not refer to the bribes, there is also the purchase of more time on television networks, which by the way are just another state apparatus because of the evident negotiations inside the same political group by new or larger concessions. The base and the top are organized in search of their humanitarian ideals, and many search for individual and petty reasons, others for reasons of faith or common good, yet what is decided and how it is decided always is decided from this top with undeniable power, elite who sometimes acts as the good and humanitarian cop and other times becomes the fascist and torturer policeman, a class group that only slows down it's exploitation when, with much effort, the cries of the miserable and impaired in the process of economic renewal can be heard, almost than by a miracle, or perhaps by the sense of justice of some members of this very wealthy political elite, who may potentially be persecuted by the state machine. Because internal machine processes buy support and external processes buy henchmen. O nome do evento é mais simbólico que fatidíco porque não houve ocupação, apenas a velha encenação política da insatisfação dos grupos populares conscientes. Consciência política e autonomia do pensamento estão diretamente ligadas. Muitos grupos da sociedade civil não entendem ainda o que é a retirada dos próprios direitos e outra questões, entretanto existe a crítica dos modelos de instituição que se contituiram no passado e que hoje não representam mais o modelo do presente. Modelo que é o imposto pelo capital. O Estado é uma dessas instituições históricas que apesar de continuarem imersas no passado continuam se atualizando conforme os interesses da mesma velha elite. Esses momentos de insatisfação popular generalizada, de greves com diversas categorias, só deixam ainda mais aparente a mentira que é a disputa do poder. O que é vendido nos diz que vivemos uma disputa entre os desmandos da direita e a vontade da esquerda, e que isso deve ser feito através de uma justa democracia representativa, mas não é dito que quem nos representa por lá só pode conseguir alguma representação após fazer parte dos mesmos processos e comprar os mesmos acessos. Falo por exemplo em comprar uma panfletagem física ou virtual e não me refiro propriamente em propina, existe também a compra de horários comerciais nas redes televisivas, que por sinal são só mais um aparato estatal em razão das negociações evidentes no interior do mesmo grupo político por novas ou maiores concessões. O que existe não é uma disputa entre dois polos de poder e influência, mas a busca pelo controle total da base trabalhadora por uma elite política e classista. A base e o topo se organizam na busca de seus ideais humanitários, e muitos por razões individuais e mesquinhas, outros por questões de fé ou bem comum, mesmo assim o que é decidido e como é decidido surge sempre desse topo com poder incontestável, elite que ora se faz de policial bonzinho e humanitário e ora se faz de policial fascista e torturador, grupo classista que apenas diminui seu ritmo de exploração quando, com muito esforço, os gritos dos miseráveis e prejudicados no processo da renovação econômica conseguem ser ouvidos, quase que por milagre, ou talvez pelo senso de justiça de alguns membros dessa mesma elite política riquisíssima, que potencialmente podem vir a ser perseguidos pela máquina do Estado. Porque os processos internos da máquina compram apoio e os processos externos compram capangas. É engraçado como tentam convencer a massa que não foi golpe, e com os sucessivos escandâlos, além da condenação que impede o presidente ilegítimo de exercer qualquer cargo público por oito anos e todos os seus ministros serem investigados, fora esse descompasse do bom tom que o governo tenta tanto passar, com tamanho esforço, de finesse e outras palavras bonitas de paulistas que se consideram a locomotiva da nação, e outras intrigas ministeriais que deixam claro que foi golpe e todos os outros sintomas, como a compra descarada de maior apoio midiático, fica claro que os desejos dessa classe seriam impostos. Apesar da narrativa dominante, ao menos a narrativa nacional, considerar o presidente ilegítimo como presidente constitucional, apesar das discussões da própria constitucionalidade de um impeachment orquestrado por nada menos que o presidente da câmara comprado com dinheiro da corrupção, apesar de tudo isso, minhas razões são outras. Considero que foi golpe porque não hesitaram em explorar ainda mais as reservas florestais e indigenas, não hesitaram em vender os pequenos esforços nacionais para o capital estrangeiro, não hesitaram em retirar a verba de programas culturais e outros esforços de uma sociedade mais civilizada. Esse pessoal é o que considera uma sociedade mais justa e mais saudável, com mais tempo de lazer, como uma sociedade de vagabundos, porque pra eles o certo é uma indústria cinza, que se alimenta de carne humana, com todos os rios poluídos, com indigenas mortos e desalojados e com pobres massacrados presos. Não é por acaso que o slogan da polícia militar de São Paulo, capital do atual presidente constitucional Temer, que faz parte do PMDB, seja "a polícia que mais prende" e "370 pessoas presas ao dia", partido que pune os seus membros ou membros dos partido amigos apenas em mirabolantes pirofagias que em nada mudam os valores exorbitantes dos investigados em suas contas secretas, mas não hesitam em punir o pobre com a perda da aposentadoria integral ou até pioram a situação do trabalhador informal por não considerarem a base da base, os explorados de fato, como humanos e cidadãos, ao contrário, aumentam o investimento em todos os aparatos do Estado que funcionem em sentido segregador. Retiram a verba da cultura, destroem o núcleo familiar dos mais pobres com ainda mais trabalho, forçado, porque todos nós somos obrigados a pagar o aluguel do setor imobiliário comandado pelo capital rentista, deixam os jovens em escolas precárias, incentivam a violência nesses espaços, prendem sem fins de ressocialização os desviantes, jovens com crimes leves são punidos com condenações absurdas (as vezes são presos por plantar cannabis e simples usuários acabam como traficantes) e alguns setores da elite ainda incentivam a distribuição de armas e comércio ilegal de armanento bélico militar no interior da própria nação, para fomentar ainda mais uma guerra que não tem fim porque existe um investimento nela mesma, até pelas empresas de segurança, e por aí vai a história.
